    We’re on the Telly!

Chorus rehearsals came to an abrupt halt on 14 March 2020, when Spain went into lockdown. Our planned trip to compete in Belgium had to be cancelled as every member complied with the new ruling of ‘quedate en casa”. Disappointed, but undaunted, the chorus management team and musical director set about keeping the chorus engaged during what was to be 15 weeks of isolation. “I had just taken over as Musical Director” said Valerie Lynch “and it was a tough call, but with the help of my magnificent chorus management team, I had a golden opportunity to get to know every single chorus member on an individual basis.” Valerie offered…

    Covid-19 Changes Everything

As a chorus, we had so many great plans for 2020, but Covid-19 put paid to all of them when Spain went into lockdown on 14 March. We had planned to go to Mechelen in Belgium to compete in an a cappella festival on 2 April. Sadly, we had to cancel our hotel and flights, but we realised that our health and that of our loved ones is far more important than a trip abroad. Municipal buildings were closed, our rehearsals ceased and we retreated to the relative safety of our homes. Some of us prayed, some of us baked, some of us painted, some of us sewed, some of…

    Paying It Forward

What absolute stars! Big shout out to our Bass, Wendy Grant, and Lead, Gale Booth, doing their bit during lockdown to help local hospitals, by making hundreds of face masks. These will be sanitized at Murcia’s Arrixaca Hospital and distributed to health care and emergency service workers in the Murcia Region. #payingitforward #ourcommunity #spanglesrocks

    Día de la Mujer Concert

It was an absolute pleasure to celebrate International Women’s Day with the Concejal de Cultura, D. Antonio Luís López Campoy, and members of the Los Alcázares Town Hall. We took the opportunity to hand over a cheque for 1100€ which was collected for those affected by the September flooding. We were grateful for the presence of Miguel from the Rondalla Son del Mar Menor, who helped raise such a marvellous sum. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us and thank you to the Alcalde, D. Mario Ginés Pérez Cervera, for the beautiful petunias, presented to every woman in the chorus and in the audience, to celebrate the…

St David’s Day at C Breeze

Thank you to Derrick, the staff and customers of C Breeze for a really special night. We always look forward to singing for such an appreciative audience and St David’s Day was no exception. We were so pleased to sing Myfanwy for you all and it was lovely to have you join in – what fabulous voices you all have! You almost brought us to tears when you all sang the Welsh National Anthem too! Thank you so much for your generosity too, raising 250€ for Help at Home Costa Blanca and supporting our trip to Belgium with another 250€ – we are truly blessed! This has to be our…

    Time for a Change Concert

What a fabulous night we had raising funds for those affected by the September flooding in Los Alcázares. We had a packed house, with standing room only, and raised an amazing 1100€. Thank you to the Rondalla Son del Mar Menor and the Agrupación Coral Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Los Alcázares, who joined us for the concert and to everyone who donated for the entry tickets and the raffle. Special thanks go to the Concejal de Cultura, Antonio Luis López Campoy, for supporting the event, and to Conchita and Lyn for organising the event. A huge thank you to all Spangles who donated for the raffle, took photos,…
