Retail Therapy

Spangles Harmony Chorus has been a staunch supporter of MABS Murcia/Mar Menor since it started in 2007, raising money through their shows throughout the year and singing at MABS fundraising events. So, it was no surprise that, when they heard that the new MABS Cancer Centre was opening its doors to the public for the first time last week, the ladies from Spangles were up for a bit of retail therapy.

Thursday is rehearsal day for Spangles and everyone drove over to San Javier to sing for the MABS volunteers and customers. “It was great to see Spangles on our first day and we really appreciate their continuing support” said Sue, MABS Cancer Centre Manager. “Some of them have volunteered to work in the retail outlet for us, which is wonderful. The more people we have helping, the longer we can stay open and ensure that we fund the new cancer centre.”

Having sung their hearts out, Spangles ladies got down to some serious shopping and boosted the takings for the day. “We’re so impressed with the centre” said Anthea, co-Chorus Manager of Spangles. “Sue and her team have done a fantastic job and we’re very impressed. It looks like any other retail outlet – no charity shop air about this place”. MABS is making the final touches to the treatment, counselling and information areas, which will be fully functional by Friday, 26 November, when there will be an official opening by the British Consul.
