Representing SABS, Gail Grainger and Lyn Baines, were guests at the 2010 BABS Convention in Harrogate in May. This provided them with the opportunity to learn from the masters how conventions are run and they gleaned a lot of information and tips to help enhance future SABS En Armonía conventions. A huge thanks to Alan Goldsmith, Chairman of BABS and member of the Grand Central Chorus, for all his help.
They were also fortunate enough to meet one of the barbershop world’s most famous arrangers, Tom Gentry, who was a guest speaker and judge of the quartet contest. Gail and Lyn have bought many of his arrangements for Spangles, so it was a real treat for them to meet the man himself.
Gail and Lyn are now back in Spain, armed with lots of information to make En Armonía 2011 in Murcia a weekend to remember. The venues, guest choruses and quartets have been confirmed and full details will be sent out to membeers soon.
